Shyla is an independent consultant bringing over 10 years of combined experience in sustainability, corporate responsibility and communications to the NPV team.

 

She has supported Fortune 500 clients in managing and implementing their CR programs across a variety of areas including:

  • CR strategy development (materiality assessments, goals/metrics development, gap analyses, research and benchmarking)
  • Stakeholder engagement to inform CR strategy
  • CR report development (including reports aligned to the GRI reporting guidelines)
  • CR report assurance
  • Internal and external CR communications and social media
  • Training

She has worked across multiple industries including food and beverage, oil and gas, consumer products, finance/banking, and ICT, as well as organizations in the non-profit sector. Past clients include Symantec, Chevron, Juniper Networks, Griffith Laboratories, Mars, TD Bank, Kimberly-Clark, Ernst & Young, UNICEF, Goodwill Industries, among others.

Shyla previously served as a Senior Sustainability Consultant for DNV GL’s Sustainability Advisory Services team supporting companies to execute and strengthen their corporate responsibility programs across the areas mentioned above. Prior to this, Shyla worked as a consultant in Europe, Mexico and the US providing marketing and CR support to social enterprises and non-profits in the areas of sustainable tourism, environmental conservation, community development/unemployment, and corporate community engagement. She began her career as an integrated marketing executive managing marketing and public relations campaigns for large consumer brands.

Shyla holds a BA in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and an MBA from ESADE Business School.
