He has taught at Yale College including a popular Residential College Seminar on Business & Sustainability in the fall of 2014 and 2015, and is co-teaching a Graduate Seminar on Climate and International Energy within YCEI (Yale Climate & Energy Institute) during spring 2016, starting spring 2015, as well as a new exciting Public Policy course at Brown entitled The Theory and Practice of Sustainable Investing, taught with the Brown Investment Office, for the purpose of creating a Green Fund within the Endowment. He also teaches an MBA class at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and similar courses at Columbia University since 2009 including through a partnership with Kerry Kennedy’s RFK Human Rights, and has advised the University of Cambridge’s Investment Leaders Group. A forthcoming MBA class will also be co-taught this upcoming summer at Concordia University in Montreal.
His previous books include Sustainable Investing: The Art of Long Term Performance and Evolutions in Sustainable Investing. Forthcoming is a five year forward look at what is needed from investing tentatively entitled Sustainable Investing: The Art of the Necessary.
He helped develop the Value Driver Model body of work in late 2013 for the UN Global Compact including a paper, case studies and toolkit, and was co-author in 2014 of A New Vision of Value for KPMG. He is also working on the nexus of environmental valuation and investment with a major foundation and is a Board Member and former Executive Director of the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets, Editor of the Journal of Environmental Investing, and Strategic Advisor to dMass, RLP Sustainable Strategies and Co-Founder of the Carbon Tracker Initiative.
